ANSWERS TO THE 4 BIGGEST QUESTIONS ABOUT DAAS BENEFITS

Not long ago, I answered the most common questions Nuvestack hears about VDI versus DaaS. Basically, I said that Nuvestack Desktop-as-a-Service is a superset of Virtual Desktop Infrastructure. You can read the whole thing here.
Now I’m answering four more questions. This time, the questions center around moving business computing to a Cloud-based environment including our Desktop as a Service (DaaS) solution.
1. Is DaaS secure?
DaaS can be very secure. Our DaaS solution at Nuvestack, for example, is often even more is secure than a physical PC. This is because we host our DaaS in many of the most secure, locked down data centers in the world. In addition, we ensure our customer’s data isn’t resident on the user’s device. All their information remains locked away inside the data center so their sensitive corporate data is always safe and secure. Even if an employee’s device is lost or stolen company data can’t be compromised because it was never on the device to begin with.
2. Will moving to DaaS save my company money?
Most companies that implement a DaaS solution will see a significant decline in total cost of ownership (TCO). First, wasting capital replacing workstations every few years is no longer necessary because desktop computing is now a stable, predictable and scalable operational expense. Nuvestack, for example, charges around $100/month for a full Windows virtual desktop that comes with everything including help desk support. Whether a business grows or shrinks, the price per desktop stays the same. Also, since Nuvestack includes desktop support all the way to the end user as part of the flat monthly subscription fee, many companies are able to cut IT support costs as well.
However, saving money is not the primary reason companies implement DaaS. DaaS is all about helping companies do what they do better by getting IT out of the desktop support business so they can focus on strategic initiatives that enable innovation and growth.
3. Is DaaS hard to implement?
While I can’t speak for other DaaS providers, at Nuvestack, we’ve built a management platform we call Nuvecenter that automates most of the up-front and ongoing tasks that other organizations farm out to expensive technicians, who manually perform each task. What this means for our customers is that the job is done consistently and accurately each time and what normally takes hours or days to accomplish is accomplished in Nuvecenter in a couple of seconds. Nuvecenter greatly simplifies desktop management (we joke that we’ve made it so easy even our CEO can do it).
Remember, since end user support is included in the Nuvestack “all-in” subscription fee, if our customers run into trouble, it’s OUR problem – not theirs. Their Nuvestack desktop will look and act just like the one they use on their physical PC, only faster.
4. How does DaaS benefit users?
The most noticeable benefit of DaaS is secure access to a user’s desktop from any location, on any device. This enables business to be done anywhere, anytime while solving Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) security challenges. In general, a properly configured DaaS desktop, in most cases will actually be faster than the PC used to access it.
Because Nuvestack DaaS includes full end-user support there are no question we won’t answer for our customers…even little things like “Why did my printer stop working?” or “Where did my Dropbox icon go?” We allow our customers to stop worrying about Desktop IT management nightmares forever!
