Is DaaS Ready for the Enterprise?

The common belief is that Enterprise customers are not ready for Desktop as a Service (DaaS). But at Nuvestack, we disagree. Our belief is that most DaaS vendors – Nuvestack being the exception – aren’t themselves ready for enterprise customers and that’s why we haven’t seen a comprehensive DaaS offering proliferate for Enterprise. Yet.
Enterprise Computing Already Works in the Cloud
So why not DaaS for Enterprise? I mean if we can use storage services like Box or Dropbox to hold our files effectively, and if we can dive into Office 365 for email, why can’t we rely on another external source to give us access to all of the apps that normally live on our desktops – the productivity tools we use every day?
Some people claim “no,” that DaaS just doesn’t make sense for Enterprise IT – and I’ll blame this on our competitors, since they’ve been trying to force fit older, more complicated technologies or methodologies into this new paradigm for distributing business computing. Unlike NuveCenter – our turnkey software platform that manages our DaaS and Virtual IT offerings – other DaaS offerings are incredibly complex, confusing, hard to install, manage and use. Moreover, those offerings are expensive, because our competitors are used to charging high prices for “techno babble” and complex solutions. DaaS is no exception.
In truth, Enterprise customers have been moving toward DaaS for years. Initially, Enterprise computing meant massive investments and commitments with everything the system architecture needed to enable users, and secure, manage and deliver all of the data. That’s the not the case anymore. NuveCenter makes it easy to virtualize Enterprise IT tasks associated with managing desktops and desktop users without impacting other mission-critical areas. NuveCenter can integrate with existing Enterprise system architectures and automate and virtualize desktop management and DaaS today. And we believe DaaS can be piecemealed out to save Enterprise IT departments considerable time and money.
Virtual IT Should Fit All Business Sizes – Even Enterprise
Nuvetack is different. We didn’t start out as a provider of other services before adding DaaS to our menu. We were built to virtualize IT, and we are just beginning with DaaS. This has always been our intent: the Nuvestack team recognized a few years back that Cloud computing was becoming mainstream and “in the Cloud” no longer sounded strange to people. And people – from small business all the way up to Enterprise-sized businesses – started to realize that applications, data and communications could be much more secure in the Cloud than on local PCs or laptops. Then tablets and smartphones arrived, launching the BYOD phenomenon and the market saw that Cloud-delivered applications could perform just as well on a myriad of different end points.
By creating a company solely focused on virtualizing IT, we could accelerate bringing these pieces together for businesses and make it easy to consume and benefit from these services. So that’s what we did with DaaS as our jumping-off point (it’s our first step toward delivering a holistic comprehensive virtual IT services offering).
I’ll be honest – what we at Nuvestack do IS very hard and extremely complex, but we make it look and feel easy for our partners and their end users. We eliminate the complexity and provide users with secure access to their desktops and applications anytime, anywhere, on any mobile device or PC. Even better, the desktop they access is theirs, customized with their unique application profile and with everything they need, just the way they like it. And it’s still amazingly secure – much more so than working on resident applications on physical PCs. Data is backed-up and lives in the Cloud. And NuveCenter is far faster than processing on a local PC, too.
Business Computing Can Be Productive and Secure
For enterprise customers and everyone else, Nuvestack provides a manageable, secure computing platform that can be rolled-out (or rolled-back) in a matter of minutes. So when a new employee starts, it’s a matter of making a few simple selections and, voila! Access. When a new software update is released for any of the apps a user or business uses, we manage those – not the corporate IT department or even the user. Enterprise IT shouldn’t be wasting its time managing desktops – it has higher value tasks and projects to tackle. Let them move on to the stuff that really matters.
Nuvestack isn’t about “how we do” DaaS – we are about making DaaS and other IT challenges as easy to manage as possible. Take licensing, which can be a big challenge for Enterprise and small and medium businesses alike. We’ve created an all-in pricing model that’s easy to understand: a flat fee (which is fantastic for Enterprise, where budgets need to be planned and managed accurately and efficiently, just ask a CFO!) with no surprises. Licensing is part of our agreement. So customers can scale up, scale down, add employees or change the size of their workforce – it doesn’t matter. NuveCenter automates and minimizes licensing costs by ensuring only pay for what’s being used in any month.
And when a DaaS user needs support, regardless of the time of day or day of the week, that falls to us, too. We’re happy to do it and it’s part of our all-in pricing model.
So, is DaaS ready for the enterprise? Of course it is. At Nuvestack, we can simplify life for Enterprise IT – and we’re positive Enterpise IT will welcome this. Nuvestack DaaS for Enterprise saves time and money, while allowing Enterprise IT professionals to focus on projects that really benefit a company and have a higher ROI.
Leave the low-end, high-cost IT to Nuvestack. And everyone, including Enterprise end users, will be much happier for it.
